Educator, Parent, Counsellor & Coach
Zafira Nanji Scott is an Ismaili Canadian author, Human Resources Leader, and certified End-of-Life & Disability Doula. Her work bridges storytelling, inclusion, and care — grounded in legacy and lived experience.
A third-generation Canadian with Khoja (South Asian) and East African roots, Zafira writes from the heart of a multifaith, multicultural home. Her work reflects her mother’s grace, her father’s laughter, and the collective wisdom of the caregivers, elders, and matriarchs who shaped her.
Professionally, Zafira guides organizations through evolving people strategies and change and connects people to meaningful work. As a Doula, she supports individuals and families through complex transitions — from long-term care to legacy and grief.
She is the author of My Ismaili Adventure, a storybook and interactive activity guide exploring identity and belonging within the global Ismaili community. The book has been praised for its warmth and accessibility, and is part of a growing collection of community-rooted stories, including My Ismaili Friend and the forthcoming Becoming Iliyan series.
Zafira writes for children who don’t always see themselves in books, and for those striving to raise them with courage and connection. When she’s not writing, she’s often found with her husband walking her dog, painting with her son, or quietly reflecting with a cup of tea — finding stillness between the busyness of life.
